Abscence of

Like a kitten I play,

all day,

with words,

I purr

suade

with energy I plug-in

like glade,

like a lizard I lounge,

with thoughts,

rummaged from the lost and found,

like a dog,

I bark,

at intruders, looters,

who ought to be identified as so.

Like a camel,

I store vocabulary,

like marijuana in the suburbs,

like a mouse in a hole,

in a wall,

I always make an entrance,

turning crumbs into meals.

Like a beaver,

I make connections,

setting up dams,

on the river,

As a cantaloupe,

I ripen,

like a keyboards punctuation,

question mark, exclamation point, dash, hyphen.

The intensity of an orange,

I’m acidic,

like a 18 year television critic.

Like an oar I row,

waves throughout, I flow,

until we can come to,

an understanding,

Yes, It’s true,

like a Pinata,

at Christmas, we were meant for more,

Like Christopher Columbus,

we were meant to explore,

different channels and avenues.

Taking 12 foot leaps like kangaroos,

not two steps back,

as a child,

bout to step on the crack,

break your mothers back.

Like Egyptians,

we build pyramids,

and empires,

for werewolves and vampires,

and I’m sick of this blood drive.

This negative 14 trillion-dollar beehive,

and everyone around me,

like it’s their last day in Winter.

We need lights,

and I’m not talking casinos,

we need Nevada and I’m not talking Reno.

It’s larger than that,

on an all new scale,

something that feeds,

like creole to a whale.

We need energy,

like General Electric,

We need love to seduce us,

like an aphrodisiac,

and the government,

to hand us aspirin,

before our next heart attack.

Only I want our citizens back,

because there’s not enough milk cartons,

for all those that went missing.
